Director's statement
2021. As Americans, we were coming off two years where violence against minorities had reached an all time high. As a multiracial person, I have been forced to live with frustration and anger over the escalation of these events. Marches, protests, torn down post Civil War monuments erected in the name of white supremacy...it never seems like enough. So I wrote SOJOURN in an effort to focus these feelings, pose questions that would create connection and hopefully ignite empathy in the viewer.
